Entry 1 - Reflection on Previous I Search Experiences - April 7
1. What are some of the previous research projects you have done?
The Presidential Caucus, Beyond Hammurabi, and bio board (6th grade)
2. Based on these projects, what does research mean to you?
Looking up as much information as you can before writing an essay.
3. Describe one of your research successes or failures. Why was the experience positive or negative?
When our group made our bill, we had a lot of information. We wrote a good bill, which made the experience positive.
2 - Reflection on Webbing Process April 8)
1. I think the webbing process helped/did not help me find a topic because:
I could think of many topics, which helped me find a topic.
3 - Why I Chose This Topic and What I Know About My Topic April 8
1. Topic: Endangered monkeys
2. Why you chose it: I love monkeys
3. What you already know about your topic: Many types of monkeys are nearly extinct. 4 - Pre-Notetaking Activity - in class (due Wednesday, April 9)
1. Brainstorm a list of questions related to your topic. What are the most endangered monkeys?
Where do they live? How many are left? I am concerned that your question is not a fat question. Let me know how your research goes.
Mrs D
Many of my new thin questions are What are the [monkey name] like? Where do the [monkey name] live? How many of this species are left? Im going to do this for about 5-10 monkeys. And I am also doing... How can we save this species? as a thin question.
5 - Reflections on Pre-Notetaking - for homework (due Wednesday, April 9)
1. Describe how the pre-notetaking sheet helped you find both focus for your topic and research questions to investigate. Did you find it easy or difficult to create a fat question from your ideas? Easy, I found one very fast. I chose...What are the most endangered monkeys? I can think of many thin questions to stem off of this fat question.
6 - Search Log (due Thursday, April 10)
1. What have I learned today? I learned the top 25 endangered monkeys.
2. What problems have I had? I could not find information for some of the monkeys.
3. How will I overcome the problem(s)? I will use other endangered monkeys.
4. What will I do next? Keep reasearching the monkeys.
